When I have fears that I may cease to be 
Before my pen has glean’d my teeming brain,

Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance, 
And think that I may never live to trace 

If by life you were deceived,    
Don't be dismal,don't be wild!
In the day of grief, be mild .
Merry days will come, believe.
Heart is living in tomorrow;
Present is dejected here; 
In a moment,passes sorrow;
That which passes will be dear.

When you are old and gray and full of sleep

In a Station of the Metro

The apparition of these faces in the crowd;

Petals on a wet,black bough.

  湿漉漉的黑色枝条上的许多花瓣。

    庞德（1885—1972），是美国著名诗人及评论家，也是意象派诗歌的创始人之一。他提倡以鲜明、准确、含蓄、凝练的意象表现具体事物，而这首《在一个地铁站》就是意象派诗歌中的精品。

　　有人说，“透彻地理解”这首诗是困难的。这样说不无道理。诗既不是对客观现象的机械反映，也不会直接将主观感情溢于字面，正因为诗具有“曲写心灵”的特点，所以要求欣赏者运用想象、联想等方法，调动自己的情感去理解、感受、体味，从而产生强烈共鸣，这样即是对诗歌的“再创造”。
